A NEW PLAY BY FRANK J. AVELLA
 BASED ON REAL EVENTS

NEW YORK CITY, NOVEMBER 2018

ROME, ITALY, JANUARY 2019

LURED in ROME

On the heels of our sold-out, critically acclaimed World Premiere at Theater for the New City in New York in Fall 2018, Lured traveled to Rome, Italy in January 2019 to perform at the On Stage! American Theater Festival!

The festival also hosted a panel before the show with Italy-based LGBTQ Activists, regarding LGBTQ violations in Russia.

The audience reception to the show was mind-blowing, and the press thought the show "leaves us breathless, like a punch in the gut," the actors did "praiseworthy work," with LURED "leaving souls restless in its wake.

THE REVIEWS ARE IN!

The reviews are in for our 2018 New York City run - and they are RAVES!

GayCityNews calls LURED "potent and affecting", adding it is "among the most arduous and exhilarating 80 minutes I’ve spent at the theater in recent memory."

BoyCulture calls the show "revelatory," noting it "takes a piece of gay history and turns it into an examination of the human spirit, of the propensity for human good and evil... LURED is not an easy play to watch, but it is 70 minutes of truth."

Popdust calls LURED "all too prescient", noting that "by the end there is no way to not talk about this play and the uncomfortable facts of our reality it presents... The script is blistering. The performances, scalded. The direction, untempered and abrasive. It blazes a trail through the psyche that will not cool any time soon."

Theater That Matters says LURED is "timely, relevant to our political climate, and heart wrenching. There were audible gasps of outrage throughout this glimpse into Russian persecution. This is a prime example of Theater That Matters!"
